The 73rd Virgin sez...
I remember this from my youth and I had some interest in Bloody Kansas, so thought I would give it a try. A slightly interesting plot line involving Jeff Chandler as a vaguely utopian cult leader/jayhawker raider is undercut by indescribably verbose and convoluted dialogue, very little action, and Fess Parker. Another reviewer describes him as wooden. That is too kind. He is the most uncharismatic actor to ever get his name above a title. One can imagine being caught in a small-town bar with him describing in great detail how he rebuilt his carburetor or something. Someday, a very good movie will be made about the horrors of pre-Civil War civil war in the territories but, hoo-boy, this is not it. 2 out of 5 stars.
